(Olympia, WA) -- Washington state is set to receive over 8 billion dollars from a sweeping bipartisan federal infrastructure bill passed by the U.S. House late last week. Washington should get $8.6 billion in dedicated funds for infrastructure improvements, and could see billions more in grants. Meanwhile, The Oregon Department of Transportation will get over $1 billion from the federal infrastructure package. The money will go toward projects around the state that will benefit drivers, transit riders, cyclists and pedestrians, help maintain roads and bridges, and address climate change. ODOT is still analyzing the legislation and plans to release more details about how the money will be spend later this week.

House members gave approval to the 1.2 trillion-dollar Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act during a late Friday night vote. The measure had previously passed in the Senate and now awaits a signature from President Biden. He's expected to do so Monday.
