KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A Kennewick man was arrested following a short stand-off outside of a home on W. Metaline Ave. Saturday night.

According to a press release, a woman reported that her brother, Cory Botts, 42, had violated a protection order, making threats to kill her and her son, who also has an order of protection against Botts.

The most recent alleged violation of the order happened at the Jet Mart Conoco gas station on N. Volland St.

Officer say they were able to view surveillance video from the gas station's security cameras that allegedly showed Botts at the gas station, making threats against the victims, including using his hand to make a throat-slitting motion across the neck.

Other witnesses reportedly told investigators that Botts had been telling people they needed to "watch the news" because something big was going to happen.

With the surveillance video from the gas station, officers were able to identify the vehicle Botts was driving, and located it a few blocks away at a duplex in the 3700 block of W. Metaline Ave.

Officers surrounded the home and made a phone call to Botts, advising him that the home was surrounded and encouraging him to surrender.

Botts walked out of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

He was booked into the Benton County Jail for 2 counts of violating an order of protection, and one count of felony harassment.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Kennewick Police Department at 509-628-0333 and reference case number 21-03848.
