(Kennewick, WA) -- Several senior citizens were displaced after a fire at the Colonial House AFH on 3rd Avenue in Kennewick early Monday morning. The first KFD crew arrived on scene within 4 minutes of being dispatched. Upon arrival, they noted the smell of smoke, but none of the buildings occupants had been evacuated. So, fire crews safely evacuated five occupants from the home, then located and extinguished a small fire on the second floor of the structure.

There were no injuries reported, but residents will be temporarily housed at the Baymont Hotel until they are able to return to the facility although; it may be several days until the home can be reoccupied.

Authorities say damage to the home was limited, and the occupants were all safely evacuated as a result of working smoke alarms that provided early notification to the owner of the facility that was sleeping on the second floor.
