WinCo Shooter Declared Insane

The 46-year-old Umatilla man who allegedly shot a woman in the head inside the Richland Winco about a year and a half ago now claims insanity.

Defense attorneys have asked for an acquittal just a few weeks before the start of Matthew David McQuin's trial.

Police say McQuin shot a 33-year old woman at the store in July of 2018.

The victim was treated at a local hospital, and released the same evening.

Judge Carrie Runge signed the motion, committing McQuin to Eastern State Hospital.
