"Ruff" news for dog owners, as the only dog park in the Tri-Cities plans to close the gates until next spring for renovations.

The city of Richland says the Paws-abilities Place dog park at Badger Mountain Community Park will be closed on Thursday to perform necessary maintenance to improve surface safety and restore the turf. City officials says it was opened in 2010, and there has been a significant impact on the surface of the ground.

The City says an alternative location will be set up in the overflow parking lot, just adjacent to the large dog park for pet owners to let their dogs roam. However, the city says there will not be any grass in the area, only gravel and bark.
