Pasco District 2 Councilmember to Resign and Lead Non-Profit
(Pasco, WA) -- The City of Pasco says District 2 Councilmember, Ruben Alvarado will resign at the end of 2021. Alvarado is leaving to head up a non-profit in Walla Walla, leading the new Communities in Schools of the Blue Mountains affiliate organization.
In a statement released by the city, Alavarado says "this is a tremendous opportunity for me professionally. It also gives me a chance to spend more time with my family. My wife Evelyn has been commuting to Walla Walla for work for several years now. The decision came with a lot of consideration for the citizens of Pasco, whom I've had the honor to serve for these past four years."
Councilmember Alvarado was first elected to a 2-year term in November 2017, representing District 2 in east Pasco. Alvarado was re-elected in 2019.
He has served on the Ben Franklin Transit Board, where he is the Chairperson of the Transit Operations and Maintenance Committee. He served as President of the Benton/Franklin/Walla Walla Good Roads Association. Alvarado also served on the Benton Franklin Council of Governments Board of Directors. He previously served as the local government sector representative on the Greater Columbia Accountable Communities of Health's Board of Directors and as a Planning Commissioner for Pasco.
