After receiving several reports from area residents about a dark grey Ford Mustang pulling over motorists with a flashing blue light, Mattawa police started trying to find the vehicle involved.

It didn't take long for officers to track down the vehicle unoccupied outside of a barber shop.

“Twenty minutes later the registered owner of the vehicle came out with three younger males between 16 and early 20’s, asking why we were taking pictures of their car," Police Chief Joe Harris explained. "I explained to them the ramifications from the actions. The only reason somebody wasn’t charged or potentially arrested was because we can’t, beyond a reasonable doubt, put someone behind the wheel.

Harris said there is no evidence the driver ever attempted to contact or extort motorists. There have been no reported incidents since Harris spoke with the registered owner.
