Traffic Sergeant Matthew Newton with the Kennewick Police Department says, "Through January 1st, there is a statewide emphasis specifically looking for DUI drivers.  It's not just alcohol.  It can be dangerous to drive after you have have ingested cannabis.  We are reminding drivers to treat it just like alcohol.  If you think you've had too much, or you feel impaired, you are.  We encourage those who are using alcohol or marijuana to have a plan prior to going anywhere.  The last thing we want to see, is a serious or fatal collision in the Tri-Cities.

Jennifer Dorsett, Target Zero Manager for Benton and Franklin Counties said, "Washington Traffic Safety Commission partnered with Lyft, in order to get coupons out to ensure safe rides.  They want to make sure people are planning ahead."
