A 15-year old Kamiakin High School student was arrested Tuesday for allegedly bringing drugs and a gun to school.

According to a social media post from school officials, a teacher told the school's security that a student had left a backpack in their classroom.

The security officer arrived to remove the bag, and noticed a marijuana odor and opened the backpack, and discovered drugs and a pistol.

Kennewick Police were notified and a police officer found that the gun was loaded.

The student was found in another classroom and  tried to flee, but was taken into custody.

According to school officials, the teen was emergency expelled from school and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.
