A Mattawa 19-year-old will be cited for driving too fast and overturning a trailer loaded with one ton of hay bales.

Washington State Patrol troopers say the teen was driving westbound on I-90 when he took a curve in the road too fast and the trailer overturned. When the hay flew off the trailer, a truck coming in the opposite direction hit one of the bales. Three people from Cody, Wyoming, inside the truck suffered from minor injuries and went to the hospital.

Troopers say the hay blocked both lanes near the Vantage bridge for three hours until each one could be removed from the roadway.

The 19-year-old driver will be cited with driving too fast for the conditions.
