Catalytic converter theft continues to rise in our area.

Lieutenant Jason Kiel with Kennewick Police Department tells our partners at KEPR Action News that so far this year there have been over 90 reports of catalytic converter theft in the city of Kennewick, compared to just six reports last year.

After seeing a spike in thefts this year, he said some ways to protect your vehicle from this crime are parking your car in the garage if possible, watching out for suspicious behavior or vehicles driving by your house repeatedly, or etching your vin number onto the catalytic converter.
