Update: Human Remains Found Belong to Missing Child

(Kennewick, WA) -- The Benton County Sheriff's Office says they have confirmed human remains found on the morning of February 5th in a location in rural Benton County south of Kennewick belong to a missing child. . The child was reported missing in 2021 from a local jurisdiction. Detectives have coordinated with involved agencies to notify the family of the victim. Detectives, along with the Benton County Coroner’s Office, responded to the scene and collected evidence. The remains were sent for forensic examination. Authorities say they will release more details in the coming days.
