Officials from the Yakima office of the American Red Cross have been working with residents who were forced out of their homes

The Washington State Fire Marshal's Office is concerned about a variety of things this winter that could lead to a house fire.

Franz says firefighters responded to 1,880 fires in the state in the 2023 fire season.

However no final decisions are expected to come from Tuesday's meeting but city leaders are expected to give some direction to city budget officials.

Firefighters were called to the warehouse at State Highway 24 and Beaudry Road at about 3:50 pm Friday.

The fire was reported at about 8:20 pm Sunday behind Roche Fruit and 1st Avenue and Lincoln.

The blaze was reported at about 1:30 pm Sunday.

The idea behind "Home for Heroes" is to try and address shortage issues in the workforce in occupations that impact life, health, and safety.

But for now firefighters are making progress in containing the fires.
