PASCO, Wash.-- One person was injured in an officer-involved shooting in Pasco Friday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Rigo Pruneda with the Pasco Police Department, a street crimes detective with the police department spotted a man who was wanted out of Kennewick shortly after 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

"We conducted a traffic stop on the off-ramp to the east-bound lanes from Road 68 to I-182, and were trying to take him into custody," Pruneda said. "A Pasco Police Street Crimes Detective was involved in that shooting, and the wanted person was struck with gunfire."

The suspect was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Neither the suspect nor the officer have been identified at this point.

A section of Road 68 was closed for several hours.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
