Portland Police Chief to retire in midst of criminal investigation

Portland’s Police Chief is retiring in the wake of a criminal investigation into a shooting he was involved in while hunting in Eastern Oregon earlier this year. Chief Larry O’Dea had been placed on administrative leave after being accused of lying to investigators in Harney County about accidentally shooting his friend with a .22 rifle while they were hunting. The friend was treated for a gunshot wound in Boise and released.
