OTHELLO, Wash.-- Police in Othello are searching for a man wanted on warrants, who ended up exchanging gunfire with an officer.


According to a press release from the Othello Police Department, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Larch in Othello at about 10:30pm Wednesday.


The officer communicated to emergency dispatchers that he believed the driver was an individual with warrants for his arrest.


Moments later, the officer radioed to dispatchers that shots had been fired, and the subject had a firearm.

The suspect, identified as Aaron Urbina, 32, Othello, fled the scene. He was last known to be wearing black pants, a short-sleeved navy blue shirt, black hat, and white shoes, and is believed to be armed with a handgun.


The officer was placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
