One dead in hit and run accident near Sunnyside

A Sunnyside man is dead following a 2 vehicle collision in Yakima County early Friday morning.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office,29-year old Jamie Fernandez Inga from Sunnyside, ran a stop sign on Maple Grove Road at Independence Rd. at about 5:30 AM.

His sedan t-boned a car driven byUriel Badillo Guzman, 43, hitting the car on the passenger side and pushing it about 80 feet off the road into a crop of corn.

Uriel had critical injuries and he was taken to Sunnyside Astoria Hospital where he died a short time later.

Fernandez-Inga fled the area on foot and was found a couple of hours later by Yakima County Deputies. He had only minor injuries.

Records showed thatFernandez-Inga was on pre-trial release for a DUI from the 20th of this month.

Fernandez-Inga was booked into the Yakima County Jail on suspicion of Vehicular Homicide, Hit and Run, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
