Mochia the Penguin Has Passed

The elder statesman of Oregon Zoo's Humboldt penguin colony is dead.

The Zoo today announced the death of Mochica. The 31-year-old was known for spending more time with people than his fellow birds. He was the oldest Humboldt penguin male in any North American zoo or aquarium. Humboldt penguins do not tend to live past 20 in the wild.
