BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - The Benton County Sheriff's Office wants you to know that the rumors of 'Martial Law' are not true. Officials released a statement Tuesday morning to assure the public that there are no orders to detain, arrest, ticket or establish checkpoints for compliance.

"We view our role more as one of education with respect to the Governor's 'stay at home order'. Educating residents on how to keep themselves safe, how to keep their families safe and most importantly, to keep the rest of the community safe, especially our vulnerable populations."

The statement goes on to say that rumors of individuals needing passes or licenses are also not true.
