A man is behind bars after police say he shot a rifle in a Richland hotel room several times.

Richland Police Department says around 5 a.m. Saturday morning they received a call from a woman who said she had been in a room at the Shilo Inn off George Washington Way with Jamin Harris.

She told police when she got into an argument with Harris, he shot off a rifle in the room. Police say at this point they are unsure if he shot the rifle at her or just in the area. Officers say she safely got out of the room and that is when she called police. As they were responding, officers say he shot off another 15 to 20 rounds with what is described as a war replica style rifle.

Richland police blocked off the area and called in the SWAT team to help deescalate the situation, as well as, evacuating occupants from at least one other room in the area.

Officers were able to talk the Oregon man from coming out of the room peacefully and he was arrested. No one was hurt in the incident.

Harris who is believed to be in his 30's now could face charges which could include felony assault and reckless endangerment.

Initially the calls that came in stated a man was shooting at cars driving by in the area but officers say all the shots were fired inside the room. They believe with the range of the rifle, the shots could have escaped, but no other property damage outside the room was found.
