An elderly woman, who was a victim in a home invasion robbery, received a gesture of kindness from the Kennewick Police Department Friday.

While she was picking up property from evidence, officers learned this week she was having trouble keeping her house warm, with the wood fireplace being the main source of heat. She said she lost her source of wood and her chimney has not been cleaned in years.

Using the Community Care Fund, officers made sure her chimney was cleaned and a cord of wood was delivered.

Back in December, the 73-year-old was duct-taped to a chair and a pillow case put over her head while three men stole from her home. All three men were arrested and now face robbery and burglary charges.
