KENNEWICK, Wash-- An early morning knock on a door led to the arrest of a man in Kennewick Sunday morning.

Kennewick Police responded to a home in the 1100 block of W. 53rd Ave. after receiving a call shortly after 8:00 a.m. from a resident in the area. The caller reported that a female neighbor had arrived at her home wearing handcuffs, and had injuries to her face, asking for help.

When the neighbor said they were going to call police, the victim went back to her own residence.

Officers arrived on the scene and surrounded the home, which sits on a hill backing up to an undeveloped field at the edge of the Kennewick city limits off of Highway 397 and Olympia.

While watching the residence, officers spotted a man, woman, and two children leaving on foot headed up the hill behind the home toward Highway 397.

Officer Adam Greiber with the Kennewick Police Department says officers were able to surround the family and detain the suspect, whom police are asking Newsradio 610 KONA not to identify for the victim's security. The 40-year old suspect is being held in the Benton County Jail on one count of unlawful imprisonment.

Officer Greiber said the two children were asleep when the alleged assault occurred, and did not witness the incident.

Detectives applied for a warrant to search the home and recovered a set of handcuffs. Other charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
