COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.-- A call for a domestic disturbance Thursday afternoon led to the recover of two stolen firearms.


College Place Police say officers responded to a home in the 800 block of SW Bade Ave. shortly before 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28ht, when a 38-year old woman reported that she was arguing with her ex-husband when he armed himself with a gun.


When they arrived at the scene, officers contacted the female victim as she was walking out of the residence with the unarmed male suspect, identified as Frank P. Tamayo, 35, following her.


The woman claimed that Tamayo had pulled out a black and silver .9 mm handgun during the argument, and tried to hide it before officers arrived.


Tamayo denied having a gun, and accused the victim of trying to get him into trouble.

The woman gave officers permission to search the house, and they located a .22 caliber pistol buried in a 5-gallon bucket of salt in the kitchen as well as the .9mm pistol buried, which was buried in a large, open bag of dog food.


Officers confirmed that both firearms had been reported as stolen out of different counties.

Tamayo is a convicted felon with previous unlawful firearm possession convictions, and is lot legally able to possess a firearm.


Tamayo was taken into custody and booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on a long list of charges, including 2 counts of Possession of Stolen Firearm, 2 counts of Weapons Violation, Unlawful Possession of Firearms 1st Degree and 1 count of Weapons Violation, Exhibit, Display, Carry with Intent to Intimidate DV.
