City of Seattle Counter-Suit
The city of Seattle is fighting back against a lawsuit accusing it of breaking Washington state's public records law in its handling of Mayor Jenny Durkan's missing text messages. Lawyers for the city filed a countersuit against the Seattle Times on Friday denying allegations that it violated the law or engaged in improper governmental action. The Seattle Times filed a lawsuit against the city last month in response to a whistleblower report released in May that found that Durkan's office mishandled public records requests after learning that roughly ten months of the mayor's text messages were missing.
