The body of a 15-year-old boy has been found after he jumped from a cliff at Summer Falls last weekend and did not resurface.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death, but detectives believe the drowning was a terrible accident.

The boy is from the Soap Lake area and had been missing since Sunday afternoon in Billy Clapp Lake. His body was found by a private diver hired by the boy’s family.

Sheriff’s marine unit deputies searched the lake Sunday and were joined by Spokane County divers on Monday. Deputies continued to conduct twice daily surface searches throughout this week.

Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said in a statement, "“There were a lot of people who stepped up to help search and also raise funds for the family, and for that I am grateful that we live in such a concerned community."
