Resident halls are set to be built for students at Washington State University Tri-Cities now that officials signed a deal with a development company.

The housing will be have 800-beds, which will be shared apartment-style rooms. Essentially each person gets their own room and share a common area with a kitchen. The complex is set to be named, "The Vineyard on Campus," with each building tentatively named after wine grapes like Reisling and Merlot. The first 165 beds should be ready for students by Fall 2017.

Corporate Pointe Developers, LLC. will be building, operating and maintaining the facility. It will be built in 7 phases, each will approximately take about a year to build.

Originally, in November of 2014, the Port of Benton, issued a request for proposals to using port land that yielded a single-interested party. But they could not reach an agreement. WSU Tri-Cities reopened the process last fall and Corporate Pointe Developers won against two other finalists for the bid.
