Walla Walla property owners were accidentally taxed an extra 1% this year.

The Walla Walla City Council had decided last November to not impose the 1% tax increase - but a mistake in the County Assessor's Office DID raise the tax.

The increased cost was 2.5 cents per $100,000 of property value - meaning that the owner of $300,000 house paid an extra $6.90. Altogether, the city got about $65,000 in taxes this year.

Walla Walla is planning to refund the money next year when they levy the 2022 property taxes.
