School is canceled Thursday for students at Walla Walla High school due to a water main break.

City officials say the water had to be shut off school wide Wednesday and because of the failing pipes there is no determination of how long the water might remain off. The high school principle says all classes, activities and athletics will not go on as planned Thursday.

"This is one of two major water issues due to failing pipes in the foundation of the building," Principal Pete Peterson said. "Maintenance is doing a great job trying to keep up with a failing 53-year-old infrastructure."

Facilities and Operations Director Dan Johnson said crews are onsite to make repairs.
