(Kennewick, WA) -- Human remains were confirmed to be found by hikers in a rural area of Benton County. According to a statement from the Benton Sheriff's Office, on the morning of February 5th, deputies responded to a location in rural Benton County, south of Kennewick. A group of hikers came upon what they believed to be human remains. Deputies responded to the area to conduct an initial
investigation. Deputies also believed the remains were possibly that of a human. Detectives, along with the Benton County Coroner’s Office, responded to the scene and collected evidence for further analysis. It has since been confirmed that the remains are human. Detectives are continuing to work the scene to collect evidence. The identity of the remains has not been identified at this time.
