PASCO, Wash. - Just a couple of weeks ago, Captain Jeff Harpster of the Pasco Police Department, graduated from the FBI National Academy. With that, comes more specialized experience and better leadership to the department.

"We had 6 classes that we took and they were college level classes during this time. You actually earn college credits." Harpster said the 10 week course also included physical fitness challenges. "It gives you the opportunity and it really shows you the importance of having a fit body which helps keep your mind sharp as well."

The networking opportunity is a huge deal, according to the Captain. He said that he now has resources he can call upon for assistance if needed. There were about 250 law enforcement officers in his class which had 33 different nations represented.

The Yellow Brick Road, is a culmination of many different fitness challenges over the ten weeks there. There are 8 weekly challenges leading up to the Yellow Brick Road. It is part of a Marine Corps obstacle course route and trail run and you're running too. Upon completing the Yellow Brick Road, each student is awarded a yellow brick.

Yes. Captain Harpster did finish the course.

The City of Pasco benefits from having the Captain go through the training because it further deepens their ability to network with numerous other officials to solve crime. Harpster also said that the connection with the community will be impacted in a positive way and that the training will bring more professionalism to the department as well as bring top level leadership.

Captain Jeff Harpster completed the 10 weeks and graduated. He brings his experience home.
