Othello man escapes burning car, faces charges
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash.-- An Othello man faces charges after the car he was driving rolled and caught fire Saturday night south of Othello.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2017 Infinity sedan was driving north on Highway 395 at a high rate of speed about ten miles north of Pasco, when the driver lost control and rolled onto the side of the road.
Shortly after rolling over and landing on its top, the vehicle caught fire.
The driver, identified as Anthony Vargas-Martinez, 20, Othello, was able to get out of the vehicle just before the fire started.
Troopers say alcohol was likely a factor in the crash.
Vargas-Martinez was taken to Lourdes with non-life-threatening injuries.
He faces charges for Driving Under the Influence and Negligent Driving.
