A fight over a girl led to one man getting shot in the leg Wendesday morning according to the Hermiston Police Department.

The Hermiston Police Chief  Jason Edmiston says there were called out to the 11th Street Market for a man with a gunshot wound. Officers learned the 25-year-old man had drove himself to the location after getting into a fight with another man he knew.

Officers were able to find and arrest 23-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez Barriga in Umatilla. Barriga was arrested for assault in the second degree, this is his second arrest and 14th citation. They learned the fight actually took place at W Elm Avenue and NW 7th Street. The gunshot wound was superficial and the 25-year-old was treated and released.

Members of the Hermiston police department and the Oregon State Police say they are getting warrants for several locations to try to find the gun.

Hermiston Police Department was assisted by the Umatilla Police Department, Oregon State Police, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Umatilla County Fire District 1 and the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office.
