A full day with a state mediator yielded progress, but no contract deal between the Kennewick School District and its teacher's union.

According to the Kennewick Education Association, the mediator spent a significant amount of time with the two sides, and both teams exchanged full counter proposals late Thursday afternoon. In a release sent out Thursday evening, the KEA noted they had hoped more progress would have been made with the mediator. But, both sides will get to the bargaining table Friday morning.

The union voted Monday to strike if a new deal is not reached in time for the first day of school next Tuesday.
