Local law enforcement take part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
As part of a national effort to keep prescription drugs out of the wrong hands... local police agencies are taking part in a National Prescription Take-Back event this weekend.
Officer Trevor Sweeny with the Pasco Police Department says you never know who might look through your medicine cabinet and be tempted to use the medication.
"We want to get those drugs out of homes so they're not accessible to kids," Sweeny said. "This is a big problem with high schoolers get a hold of their parent's or relative's prescription drugs."
This is the first year that liquid medication will accepted at drug drop-off sites, though they still will not accept syringes.
Drop-offs are open this Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
