(Leavenworth, WA) -- The city Leavenworth declaring a disaster after receiving 36 inches of snow in under 24 hours last week, and as much as 48 inches in some areas. The emergency declaration will allow the city quicker access to aid and snow removal resources.


"We're going to be taking information from community members about who may need some extra help, what needs to be cleared," said City Communications Analyst Christie Voos.


Mayor Carl Florea is also requesting help from National Guard with citizen welfare checks, food delivery, general snow cleanup and private driveway snow removal.
