The Hanford Fire Department celebrated a new fire truck to the fleet, with officials from the Department of Energy on Thursday.

The 75-foot ladder truck, featuring numerous enhancements, will be in service for multiple decades, as it replaces a 25-year old truck.

Hanford Fire Chief Norb Kuhman said, "The 10-year vision is to shrink down the central plateau.  Part of the vision of the Hanford site is to consolidate the fire protections forces to respond out of 2 primary fire stations.  Today, we operate out of 3 stations.  The vision will be 2 large stations.  We'll equally distribute our equipment and personnel to those stations and be able to respond wherever the need is."
