The Turkey Tail and Green Ridge fires began from lightning strikes July 7 30 miles east of Walla Walla. The fires are managed as one incident, called the Green Ridge Fire which is currently 40% contained after burning nearly 44-thousand acres.

Overall, the westerly flow will continue through the week with chance of wetting rains by Friday and Saturday combined with cooler temperatures. Overall fuels conditions remain very dry and susceptible to fire spread.
