Former Seattle Police Chief Among Front-runners to Lead NYPD

(Seattle, WA) -- A Former Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best is reportedly among three finalists being considered for NYPD Police Chief. The New York Times says Best is one of at least two Black women being considered for the job.

Best abruptly resigned from the Seattle Police Department in August of 2020 amid community uproar over the department's use of tear gas and less-lethal munitions on protesters demonstrating against the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis.
