Yakima police thank kids for calling after finding a loaded gun

Yakima police officers gave kudos to 10-year-old and 8-year-old siblings for calling police when they found a gun on the side of the road.

Their mom posted on Facebook the kids were walking home from school and saw the gun. Since she wasn't home, they went and got a neighbor. They all walked back to where the gun was and the neighbor noticed it was loaded. They immediately called police.

The mother also posted she was proud of their actions and thankful her children were properly taught gun safety.

She also thanked police for the free Slurpee coupons.
