PULLMAN, Wash.-- Washington State University has launched a series of free webinars in an effort to help workers in Washington establish and meet their career goals.

Each one-hour webinar features accomplished WSU faculty, staff, and alumni who are experts in their fields. Presenters will share their unique expertise and career advice while engaging with webinar participants and answering their questions in an informal and interactive environment.

CougsWork webinars are free, open to the public, and can be accessed from the WSU’s CougsWork webpage.

“There is no doubt that challenging times lie ahead for careers and employment across our state and our nation. WSU is committed to helping the Washington workforce face these challenges head on,” said Dave Cillay, WSU’s vice president of academic outreach and innovation. “CougsWork is a way to give Washington residents, and anyone else who is interested, free access to the vast treasure trove of knowledge, career advice, and industry expertise that our highly respected faculty, staff, and alumni network have to offer.”

CougsWork webinars will be presented live, and are planned to be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5-6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, starting June 2.

The first week’s lineup of webinars include a presentation on the growing career opportunities in the field of senior living from Nancy Swanger, a Carson College of Business faculty member; a discussion on adapting to changing work environments with Nick Allard, a WSU Alumnus and meteorologist for Seattle’s KIRO 7 TV station; and a presentation about the importance of soft skills in career development with WSU Executive Chef and Carson College of Business faculty member Jamie Callison. These webinars will air on June 2, 3, and 4, respectively.

“We have a lot of great Cougs lined up to share their unique perspectives and experiences. I believe there will be a great deal of value for those interested in advancing their careers in a wide array of industries and fields,” said Cillay. “We’re actively reaching out to other respected names from across all our campuses and our world-wide alumni network. There will be a lot more to look forward to.”

New presenters will be added to the CougsWork calendar of events as they are confirmed.
