WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Health officials have announced the first positive case of COVID-19 in Walla Walla County.

The patient is a man in his 40's and is in home isolation for the next two weeks. The case is not linked to foreign or domestic travel, and authorities note they are surprised it has taken this long for the virus to reach the county.

“We have been expecting this and are prepared. Regardless of where the case was exposed, everyone can and should be taking steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19", says Meghan DeBolt, Director of Walla Walla Department of Community Health.

DeBolt adds her agency is working to identify anyone who may have come in close contact with the person.
