Bikes for Tikes is an annual event with Local Union 598 and this year they assembled 16 bikes a minute, for a total of 2,00 bikes.

Organizer Tina Clousten said the bikes go to a variety of communities and organizations, including Toys For Tots, Spokane's Sacred Heart Hospital, and the Read a Book Program.

Clousten said for a kid who doesn't have a bike, to receive one is life-changing.

More than 650 students and 300 community volunteers showed up to the Three Rivers Convention Center Friday morning to assemble the bikes.

The group started at 9:15am and had them ready to go by 11am.
