With holiday travels and winter weather conditions, AAA Washington expect to rescue more than 14,500 vehicles over the holiday travel season, which runs from December 21st to January 1st.

Of those, they expect to provide a tow for more than 5,000 vehicles.

“It’s important when you hit the roads during winter weather that you take an emergency kit with you,” said Kelly Just, public relations coordinator.

AAA Washington offered some tips on what to have stocked up in case of emergency.

“You try to prepare so you don’t end up stranded, but in case you do, you want to be stocked with: a mobile phone plus a phone charger and an extra battery, first aid kit, a flashlight and an extra battery for that, a tool kit, warning flares, ice scrapers, jumper cables, shovel, sand or kitty litter to get traction on the snow, blankets and always drinking water and snacks for every person,” said Just.
