Seattle Police followed the clues brick by brick.

An investigation dubbed Operation: MandalOrganized Retail Theft began in July when a downtown retail store contacted SPD about a repeat shoplifter. The store's loss prevention officer reported that a suspect had been continually stealing Lego sets, resulting in over $10-thousand in theft from July to September, and that a shop in the Pike Place Market was selling the stolen Lego's.

Detectives discovered that the store was willingly buying the pilfered goods and booked the owner into King County Jail. The shop lifter is still under investigation. Overall, 171 Lego sets were recovered.
