RICHLAND, Wash.-- Police in Richland closed down several streets and used a K9 to try tracking down an attempted kidnapping suspect Sunday.

Detectives with the Richland Police Department say their investigation has found that there was no attempted kidnapping.

The 911 call center received a report just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday that a man attempted to take a young child from a playground at Columbia Park Apartments on Jadwin Ave.

After spending more than an hour trying to locate a suspect, the search was called off.

Tuesday evening, detectives released new information saying that the man in question was at the park with his own child.

At one point the man confronted another child, prompting the 911 call, before he left with his child.

Investigators are still asking anyone who was at the playground at the time to contact Detective Fancher at 509-942-7356, and refer to case number RPD 20-27120.
