Voters in Washington are growing more pessimistic about the state of things in both Washington and for the nation as a whole.

A new Elway Research Voter Outlook Index shows Washingtonians who expect things to get better dropped from 51% in December to 43% now, while optimism about the state fell from 56 to 46% both are six-year lows.

However, in contrast 60% of voters say things are getting better in the community and their homes, that is up from 57% in December and there are some noticeable differences along party lines with 78% of Republicans thinking things were looking up in the country, while 75% of Democrats saw things getting worse.

There was also differences between how men and woman looked at the outlook for the country with about 56% of woman believing things are getting worse, while about 49% thought it is getting better.
