PASCO, Wash.-- Police in Pasco are concerned that there may be a chop shop in the city.

The owner of a 1995 Honda Civic parked his car in the Albertson's parking lot last week at Court and 20th. He took the time to pull out the battery, secure a steering wheel lock to prevent theft, and locked the car.

Even with all that effort, the vehicle was stolen some time between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM Friday morning, leaving behind only skid marks on the pavement where police say it looks like the car was winched onto a flatbed trailer.

Officers found the car about four blocks away on Monday morning-- stripped of its engine, interior, wheels, and tires.

The investigation has led investigators to suspect that there may be a chop shop somewhere in the area of 20th and Court Street, and are asking the community to provide information to help them pinpoint its location.

Anyone with info about the case is asked to call Dispatch at 509-628-0333 or email Officer Dave Herrera at herrerad@pasco-wa.gov about case 20-22038 Vehicle Theft.
