A man was taken into custody at a Kennewick motel early Wednesday morning in connection with an assault that had happened hours earlier.

A call went into dispatch just before 3:00am Wednesday. A woman reported that her friend had been assaulted by her boyfriend, and a gun pointed to her head.

The suspect had driven away, and dispatchers were told the man might be driving a white 4-door Cadillac sedan with a brown vinyl top.

Kennewick Police spotted a vehicle in the Econo Lodge parking lot on Highway 395 that matched the description of the suspect's vehicle.

After confirming which room was associated with the vehicle, Kennewick Police and Benton County Sheriff's Deputies joined Franklin County deputies in isolating the room and bringing out a man who was staying there.

According to Kennewick Police officers, the man who was detained is the brother of the suspect in the Franklin County assault.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call non-emergency dispatch at 509-628-0333.
