New Mexico Man Arrested After Driving to Tri-Cities to Abduct 13-Year-Old Girl

(Kennewick, WA) -- A 35-year-old New Mexico man is behind bars after he allegedly drove all the way to Kennewick to pick up a 13-year-old girl. Police say 35 year old Lucas Murphy had been talking with the girl over social media--claiming he was 21-years-old. According to the Kennewick Police Department, Murphy allegedly drove to the Tri-Cities, picked the victim up, and then returned to New Mexico.

Multiple agencies got involved, and authorities there arrested Murphy around 9:45 Wednesday night. He's charged with 1st degree kidnapping with sexual motivation, 2nd degree attempted rape of a child, and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

The girl is reportedly safe.
