KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Kennewick School District officials announced Tuesday that it selected its new assistant superintendent of secondary education.

Jack Anderson currently serves as K-12 student services director for the district, and will take over the position on July 1. He replaces Ron Williamson, who’s retiring after more than four decades in education.

“Jack’s decades of experience in a variety of roles within the Kennewick School District have prepared him well and make him the right choice for this position. I have every confidence that he will do an outstanding job,” said Dr. Traci Pierce, superintendent.

Anderson has been K-12 student services director since 2015.

Before that, he spent five years in the district office as director of federal programs, nine years as principal of Kennewick High School and three years as Desert Hills Middle School’s principal.

Anderson joined the district in 1979 as a biology teacher at Kamiakin High School, later becoming an assistant principal at the school. He’s also served as administrator of the district’s alternative programs, and he’s been the district’s summer school administrator since 1993.

In his new role, Anderson will help develop, coordinate, evaluate and implement district policies and procedures as they relate to secondary education, as well as oversee all aspects of KSD's middle schools and high schools.
